On July 16, 1945 the United States Army conducted the first detonation of a nuclear weapon at this spot in the New Mexico desert southeast of Socorro.
On April 4th, 2015 the gates were opened to the public, just shy of it’s 70th anniversary. Here are photographs from that day.
