Lumen Prints
Lumen Prints is a project that is the result of a photographer finding his way out of the hectic world of digital photography.I woke up one day and found myself chasing the latest equipment and techniques. That is when realized I was on the wrong path. I looked for various outlets of my photographic visions and found lumen photography. Dating back to the 1800’s and the roots of modern photography, Lumen Prints is a process that enabled me to work directly with nature and explore composition and color. Using natural objects I attained stunning images from nature by placing organic objects on top of photosensitive paper and exposing it in direct sunlight for various lengths of time, from 30 minutes to 3 days. The exposures themselves taught me patience and the process of adding different elements and interacting with my photo as it exposed was a natural progression in the project. I explored with adding water and shadows to the plants and papers before and during the exposure. The results are photographs that required no camera let alone the latest digital obsession.

The images that follow are photographs of the final product; a 5x7 laser print on 100% cotton paper floated above an 8x10 art board.
Your fridge can also find the love of my Lumen Prints. I have created magnets (they are about the size of half of a business card). They are available at The Octopus and the Fox in Albuquerque, NM.
